A local BJP leader in Indore was arrested for celebratory firing during a wedding and later made to hold his ears and apologize at the police station. The accused, identified as Prithvi Singh, was caught after a video of the firing went viral on social media. Caught for firing licensed gun at wedding The incident occurred in the Khajrana area of Indore during a wedding ceremony. Prithvi Singh, a resident of Suraj Nagar, allegedly fired shots from his licensed gun in the air during the celebrations. Following the viral video, the Khajrana police arrested him on Sunday night. Additional DCP Amrendra Singh said that during interrogation, the accused admitted to the act and promised, “I will not commit such an offence again.” Police recorded a video of him holding his ears in apology inside the station and sent it to senior officers. However, officials denied sharing or leaking the video on social media. Initial police hesitation, action only after viral video Initially, the police appeared reluctant to register a case. But after Commissioner Santosh Singh intervened following the viral video, an FIR was promptly filed. Prithvi Singh was booked under relevant sections of the Arms Act and other provisions, then taken into custody. Complaint filed by police constable According to reports, Constable Pradeep Suryawanshi lodged the complaint after the video surfaced during his duty hours. In the clip, a man could be seen firing shots in the air during a wedding procession. Subsequent investigation confirmed the accused as Prithvi Singh, who is said to be associated with the Karni Sena and known to be a close aide of BJP MLA Mahendra Hardia. Released on bail after apology After recording his apology, the police released Prithvi Singh on bail. Officials confirmed that further investigation is underway to verify the gun license details and the venue’s security arrangements during the wedding.
