Babar Azam outshines Rohit, Kohli for most 50+ T20I scores:Pakistan cricketer secures the series-decider vs South Africa with 68-run knock

Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam has become the batter with the most 50+ scores in T20 International cricket. He scored more than 50 runs for the 40th time, surpassing India’s Virat Kohli (39) and Rohit Sharma (37). In the third T20 International match played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday, Babar played a brilliant innings of 68 runs (9 fours) off 47 balls. Thanks to his innings, Pakistan defeated South Africa by 4 wickets to win the three-match T20 series by 2-1. Notably, this was Babar’s 37th T20I half-century and his first fifty since May 2024. The South African team was all out for 139 runs in 20 overs. For the team, Reeza Hendricks scored 34 runs, and Corbin Bosch scored 30 runs. From Pakistan’s side, fast bowler Shaheen Afridi delivered a brilliant spell, taking 3 wickets for 26 runs. In his very first over, he sent Quinton de Kock and Lhuan-dre Pretorius back to the pavilion for ducks. Faheem Ashraf and debutant Usman Tariq secured two wickets each. Usman dismissed Dewald Brevis for 26 runs, putting Pakistan in a strong position. Meanwhile, Salman Mirza and Mohammad Nawaz got one wicket each. He also hit three consecutive fours in his innings.
Captain Salman Agha scored 33 runs, while opener Sahibzada Farhan made 19 runs off 18 balls. However, five Pakistani batsmen could not reach double figures. Saim Ayub and Mohammad Nawaz were dismissed for zero. He has equalled Umar Akmal’s record for the same. Both have been dismissed for a ‘duck’ 10 times. Ayub achieved this figure in 49 innings, while Akmal did it in 79 innings. Meanwhile, for South Africa, Corbin Bosch and Lizard Williams took two wickets each.
