An empty gas tanker exploded during welding at a workshop in Kheda, Itarsi, on Tuesday evening, seriously injuring 8 people who were admitted to government and private hospitals. The tanker had previously carried ethane gas for Indian Oil from Narsinghpur and was brought to the workshop for repair after being emptied. While work was underway on its spring at Akash Engineering near the church, an explosion damaged the front of the tanker and scattered parts up to 200 meters away.
