Bhopal’s Khajuri Sadak police on Friday carried out a raid at a gambling den in the area, and laid hands on five persons for engaging in the illicit activity, the police reported on Saturday. As per police, they seized Rs 1.95 lakh in cash, as well as several stacks of cards from the possession of the accused. Action carried out following a tip-off Khajuri Sadak police station TI Neeraj Verma said that after receiving a tip-off about illegal gambling activities on Friday, police officials from Khajuri Road Police Station conducted a rapid operation. A dedicated team was immediately formed and was dispatched to the reported location to verify the information. Upon reaching Vishnu Patel’s farmhouse near Khajuri Road village, the team briefed local witnesses about the intelligence received. From a concealed position, the police observed several individuals engaged in a gambling session, placing bets with cash and playing cards. Five fall into police dragnet The police team, with the assistance of witnesses and accompanying staff, swiftly surrounded the area and apprehended five suspects who were actively participating in the illegal gambling activity. The accused were identified as: During the raid, the cops confiscated Rs 1,95,350 in cash and a deck of 52 playing cards used in the gambling operation. Case registered under Gambling Act Following the seizure, police registered a case against all five accused under Section 13 of the Gambling Act. The investigation is ongoing to determine whether additional individuals were involved in organising or financing the gambling activity.
