In Anuppur, Judicial Magistrate Amandeep Singh Chhabra and his family faced a shocking attack at their government bungalow. Stones were thrown at the residence, and the judge was threatened with death. The police have registered a case and started an investigation. Incident details The incident happened on Friday night, 24 October, in the Bhaloomada area. Amandeep Singh Chhabra, a Judicial Magistrate First Class and Civil Judge in Kotma, was sleeping with his family in his official residence when some people gathered outside and started abusing him. The attackers threatened him, saying, “How do you do magistracy? We will see, we will kill you.” Property damage The accused damaged the residence by breaking the gate lamp and an iron angle fixed in the wall. They also threw stones into the courtyard. When the judge came out, the assailants fled under the cover of darkness. Police action Following the complaint, Bhaloomada police registered a case against the accused under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023. SP Motiur Rahman confirmed that an investigation has started. Police are working to identify the accused and understand the reasons behind the attack. Judge’s statement Amandeep Singh Chhabra stated that the attack was deliberate and intimidating. He emphasised the need for strict action to ensure the safety of judicial officers and their families.
