Chhindwara police recovers 201 cell phones:All units valued at ₹42L returned to owners; 900 mobile phones returned by city police in 2025

The Madhya Pradesh Police have lately been making rapid strides in technology-driven citizen services, the officials from Madhya Pradesh Police Headquarters (PHQ) said on Saturday. Owing to the efficiency and sensitivity of the cyber cell units across the state, significant success has been recorded in tracing and returning lost and stolen mobile phones to their rightful owners. In a special initiative marking Diwali celebrations, the state’s Chhindwara Police offered citizens a unique ‘police gift’. Acting under the direction of the city’s Superintendent of Police (SP) Ajay Pandey, the cyber cell team of the district managed to recover 201 mobile phones valued at ₹42.15 lakh, returning them to their legitimate owners. 904 cell phones returned by Chhindwara police in 2025 alone The recovered phones were traced not only from Chhindwara district but also from other parts of Madhya Pradesh and neighbouring states. Since the beginning of 2025, the Chhindwara Police have recovered and returned 904 mobile phones, all valued at ₹1.71 crore, underscoring their technological expertise and commitment to public service. Complaints regarding missing or stolen phones had been received from various police stations and the SP’s office. The cyber cell conducted meticulous technical tracking to trace these devices. At a special ceremony held at the SP’s office, the recovered phones were handed over to their owners. The event witnessed emotional reactions, as citizens expressed gratitude and renewed trust in the police. Beneficiaries included teachers, soldiers, traders, drivers, homemakers, farmers, and students, representing a wide cross-section of society. Districts of the state, such as Singrauli (288 phones), Vidisha (275 phones), and Indore (272 phones) have also contributed to this initiative, reinforcing the state police’s focus on technology, accountability, and community trust.
