19 days after Katni man’s death, wife held for murder:Accused confesses strangling husband with towel; claims he pressured her into relations with other men

A shocking murder case has come to light in Katni’s Bahoriband area. On October 1st, 32-year-old Anoj Chaudhary from Simrapati village was found dead at home. Initially reported as a natural death, police investigation now reveals that his wife, Kiran Chaudhary, strangled him with a towel. She was arrested on Sunday, October 19, and presented in court. Death initially thought to be illness Anoj was found dead at home on October 1st. At first, Kiran told family and neighbours that he had been ill for a few days. Police registered a case under Section 194 of BNS after suspicious circumstances were reported. Post-mortem reveals strangulation The post-mortem report confirmed that Anoj died due to asphyxiation. The cause of death was ‘ligature material’, meaning he had been strangled with a cloth or similar object. Family reveals marital disputes Police spoke to Anoj’s family. They said the couple often quarrelled and had physical fights. Family members suspected Kiran of harming her husband on the night of October 1 while he was asleep. Wife confesses to murder During interrogation, Kiran admitted killing her husband. She said Anoj used to fight and beat her daily. On October 1st, he asked her to have relations with other men, which she refused. A dispute broke out, and she decided to strangle him with a ‘gamcha’ (thin cotton towel). Concealment and arrest After the murder, Kiran lied to everyone, claiming Anoj died of illness. Police continued the investigation based on family statements. On October 19, Kiran was arrested, and the towel used in the murder was seized. Police action Police registered a murder case under Sections 103(1) and 238 BNS. They are investigating further into the circumstances surrounding Anoj’s death.
