Youth hacked to death by friends in Habibganj:Key accused suspected his affair with his mother; culprits slit his throat, then crush his head with stone

A gruesome incident unfolded in the Habibganj area of Bhopal, where a man aged 25 was brutally murdered by his three friends, the police reported on Saturday. The police said that the motive behind the killing was the key accused’s belief that the victim was having an affair with his mother. The victim, identified as Ashish Uikey, was a house-painting contractor, and lived in the Shyam Nagar multi-storey building of Habibganj. The accused have been identified as Ranjit Singh, Vinay Yadav, and Nikhil Yadav, all of whom were arrested within hours of the crime. Body found lying in pool of blood Early on Saturday morning, the police received a call reporting a blood-soaked body lying in Shyam Nagar building. A team led by Zone-1 DCP Ashutosh Gupta, ACP Umesh Tiwari, and the Habibganj police reached the scene, accompanied by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team. The victim had deep cut wounds on his neck, and his head and face had been smashed with a large stone found nearby. The investigating police personnel confirmed that the attack was premeditated and was carried out with extreme brutality. Previous quarrel over alleged affair According to DCP Gupta, two days before the murder, a heated argument had taken place between Ranjit and Ashish. Ranjit had allegedly warned Ashish to stay away from his house and threatened to kill him if he didn’t comply. Ranjit suspected that Ashish had developed an intimate relationship with his mother. Despite the warning, Ashish was seen near Ranjit’s house early Saturday, which enraged the accused. Murder executed in cold blood The police said that when Ashish appeared near Ranjit’s house, Ranjit, along with his aides Vinay and Nikhil, attacked him with a sharp weapon, slit his throat, and later crushed his head with a stone to ensure he was dead. Investigators told Bhaskar English that Ranjit and Ashish were once close friends, which is why Ashish frequently visited Ranjit’s home. All three accused are in police custody, and further investigation is underway, the police said.
