A five-year-old girl was allegedly abducted from outside the 1100 quarters Hanuman temple in the Habibganj area of Bhopal on Wednesday evening, at around 5 pm, the police said. However, as per police, they found her at the ISBT Govindpura bus terminal early Thursday morning. The unidentified abductor left the child there after noticing intensified police patrolling and search operations across the city, the police claimed. Police received information about the abduction late at night and immediately set up checkpoints to trace the missing child. At around 4:30 am, the girl was located near the ISBT premises. The suspect fled the scene before authorities could apprehend him. Medical tests confirm that the girl was beaten Habibganj police station in-charge Sanjeev Chouksey told Bhaskar English that the rescued girl was taken to JP Hospital, where she underwent a medical examination in the presence of her family. A large police contingent was deployed at the hospital during the examination. Medical officers confirmed visible signs of physical assault, including injuries on her face and head. The child, who has also developed pneumonia, has been admitted for treatment and remains under observation. Counsellors have been assigned to assist her in recovering from the trauma. The police said that while evidence of physical violence has been confirmed, there is no medical confirmation yet of any sexual assault. Counselling sessions are being conducted to determine the complete nature of the incident. Police scanning CCTV footage to identify abductor According to police reports, the girl, who is a school student, went missing at around 5 pm on Wednesday near the 1100 Quarters temple. The suspect allegedly covered the child’s mouth before abducting her, as scratch marks were found on her face. Habibganj Police have filed a case against the unidentified perpetrator and are now reviewing CCTV footage from nearby locations to trace his movements.
