Teenage girl dies after suicide attempt in Bag Sewaniya:Went missing for a week four months ago; reason behind extreme step not known yet

A 14-year-old school-girl who attempted suicide by hanging herself at her home in the Bag Sewaniya area of Bhopal died during treatment on Tuesday, the police reported on Saturday. The police have taken possession of the body and have sent it for a post-mortem examination. The reason behind the suicide is not clear as of now, as per police, though early investigations have revealed that the teenager had gone missing for a week four months ago. Teen had eloped with a man earlier Bag Sewaniya police station house officer (SHO) Amit Soni told Bhaskar English that the girl had left home without informing anyone around four months ago and was found in the company of a young man. She returned home voluntarily about a week later. In her earlier statement to the police, the teenager had clarified that the man had not misbehaved with her in any way. The Bag Sewaniya cops are now probing whether the same person might have pressured or influenced her into taking the extreme step. The girl who died by suicide was a student of Class 8 at a private school in the city, the police said. Dies a week after suicide attempt On October 8, 2025, the girl attempted suicide by hanging herself at her residence. Family members immediately rescued her and took her to the AIIMS hospital in Bhopal for treatment. Despite efforts by doctors, she succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday night, after battling for her life for nearly a week. Following the hospital’s report, police reached the spot, seized the body, and sent it for post-mortem. No suicide note was recovered from the scene, and the family’s statements are yet to be recorded. As of now, the cause of the suicide remains a mystery. According to the police, they are delving into the details of the incident.
