In Jabalpur, a man fired four shots in a restaurant two days after an argument with the owner and waiter. The incident caused panic among customers. The restaurant owner hid behind the counter and survived. Police have arrested the accused, Golu Kabadi alias Mahesh Vishwakarma, and his accomplice Anoop Kewat, from Shirdi, Maharashtra. Dispute sparks anger On October 2, Golu Kabadi visited Abhinandan Restaurant at Teen Patti Chowk with his pregnant wife for dinner. While eating, their table was accidentally hit. Waiter Raju asked Golu to sit properly. An argument broke out. Restaurant owner Ashwin Pariya joined in, and the argument escalated. Feeling insulted in front of his wife, Golu left the restaurant without eating. Planned attack 2 days later From October 2 to October 7, Golu kept looking for Raju and the owner. On October 7 evening, he spotted Ashwin Pariya at the restaurant. Angry, he arrived with Anoop Kewat carrying a pistol. Golu fired four rounds at Ashwin, who bent down and hid behind the counter, saving his life. Customers and staff fled in panic. The accused fled in a dramatic manner after the shooting. Evidence and identification Police from Madan Mahal station arrived after the shooting. They recovered four empty cartridges. CCTV footage identified Golu as the shooter. Golu has multiple criminal cases registered against him, including assault, illegal extortion, and liquor offences. Fleeing after the crime After the shooting, Golu and Anoop hid in the Bargi Dam forest. Golu called his wife to bring a car. Together, they left for Shirdi, Maharashtra. Police traced their route using CCTV cameras from Ghampur, Gorakhpur, Adhartal, Ranji, and Sadar. Their blue scooter was spotted heading to Bargi. Devotee of Sai Baba Golu is a devotee of Sai Baba. Police learned that he planned to apologise at Baba’s shrine. During interrogation, he admitted: “I had sinned. I attempted murder. That’s why I was going to seek forgiveness at Sai Baba’s temple.” Recovery of pistol and scooter Golu revealed that he had hidden the pistol and scooter in the Bargi forest. Police recovered both. He said he fired in anger because the owner and waiter insulted him in front of his wife. Court appearance and jail On Sunday, Golu Kabadi and Anoop Kewat were presented in court. Both were sent to jail. CSP Kotwali Ritesh Kumar Shiv said the accused had obtained the pistol from a friend in Ghamapur. The investigation is ongoing to find the original seller.
