The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal, continues to strengthen its reputation in medical science and ophthalmology, with one of its senior faculty members being recognised at the national level recently, the hospital authorities said on Saturday. As per authorities, additional Professor Dr Saroj Gupta of the Department of Ophthalmology at the institute has won the prestigious “Best Free Paper Presentation” award at the National Midterm Conference of the All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS), held in Amritsar. Award conferred for groundbreaking research The hospital authorities said that the award acknowledges Dr Gupta’s research paper, which introduced new insights into eye diseases and their prevention. The study highlights crucial aspects of ophthalmology that not only benefit medical professionals but also help the wider public in safeguarding their eye health. Winning this award at a conference has placed both Dr. Gupta and AIIMS Bhopal on a higher pedestal in the field of ophthalmic research, the hospital authorities said. Impact on public health Executive Director of AIIMS Bhopal, Dr Madhabananda Kar, praised the achievement and emphasised the relevance of the research. He stated that the findings presented by Dr Gupta will assist in spreading awareness about preventive measures for eye diseases. According to him, such medical advancements are essential not just for clinical practice but also for empowering communities with knowledge about eye care.
