The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended the No Objection Certificates (NOCs) of Pakistani players participating in foreign T20 leagues. The board took this decision one day after the Asia Cup final. However, the board has not stated the reason for this decision. According to ESPNCricinfo, the board’s Chief Operating Officer, Sumair Ahmed Syed, informed the players and agents about this decision by sending a notice on September 29. The notice stated, “As per the PCB Chief, all NOCs for players participating in leagues and other foreign tournaments have been suspended until further notice.” PCB wants players to prioritise domestic cricket According to the same report, the PCB have not clarified why the NOCs were cancelled, but the main goal is to make the NOCs a performance-based system. PCB want their players to prioritise the national team and domestic cricket, although there is no timeline set till when the NOCs have been suspended. The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, Pakistan’s premier domestic first-class competition, is also due to start in October, having been delayed from its original start date of September 22. Babar Azam, Rizwan and Shaheen due to play Big Bash The NOC setback will come as a huge blow for marquee players like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi who were due to play the Big Bash league in December. There are also 16 Pakistan players in the shortlist for the ILT20 auction, including Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman. Additionally, Haris Rauf and other players were also going to join franchise leagues like ILT20. The ILT20 auction will be held in UAE on October 1. 18 Pakistani players have been shortlisted for this.
