Tuesday, September 30, 2025, is the last day for the central government employees to shift to the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) from the National Pension System (NPS). Will govt extend the deadline? The government of India had already extended the deadline once in June by three months. The Centre had initially launched the scheme on April 01, 2025 with a three months window for opting out of NPS and shift to the UPS. The 3-day window deadline was June 30. The government of India had extended it for another three months till September 30. The tax and investment expert, Balwant Jain thinks whether the government would extend the deadline once again or not it would depend upon how many employees have opted for it. He says, if less than 50% of NPS members have opted to shift, then, the government might think of extension, otherwise not! From whom is the UPS window still open for subscriptions?
