A 5-year-old boy died after receiving an electric shock at the welcome gate of a Garba Pandal in Ratlam.
The child who had wandered to the area while playing, came into contact with a metal pipe that had become electrified. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but doctors declared him dead. The incident occurred on Sunday evening in Arjun Nagar, where Garba Raas events are being held daily at the Omkareshwar Mahadev Temple premises. The deceased boy has been identified as Hasan, son of Azhar Shah, aged five. FIR registered against organizers Late Sunday night, police filed a case against five Garba organizers. Station Road police in-charge Swaraj Dabi read out the FIR in front of Hasan’s family and local residents. The post-mortem was conducted on Monday morning, and the body was later brought home under police protection. Hasan’s father, Azhar Shah, said he had spoken to his son at 5 PM on Sunday, during which the child mentioned he was going to the madrasa. At 6:30 PM, the family received a call informing them about the electric shock. Azhar accused the organizers and the electricity department of negligence and demanded strict legal action. Details of the FIR According to the FIR, filed under Section 106 BNS, electrical wires at the welcome gate were installed incorrectly. A cut wire caused the iron pipe to become electrified, leading to the fatal accident. The organizers named as accused are Jitendra Bairagi, Ajay Bairagi, Chetan Bairagi, Dharmendra Verma, and Rahul Hada. Family demands justice over compensation After the post-mortem, Hasan’s body was brought home. The mother, repeatedly grieving, said, “Bring my child back.” Another female family member, Kaniz B, added that government compensation of Rs 5–10 lakh rupees was meaningless without justice. They demanded the strictest action against the accused, insisting they should not be granted bail. Hasan was the youngest son in the family; his elder sister, Inayata, is eight years old. His father, Azhar Shah, works in a hotel as a cook. The tragedy has left the family and the entire neighborhood deeply shocked.
