In the early hours of Saturday, two unidentified men broke into the house of a retired government employee in Arera Colony, a posh area of Bhopal, and made away with two domestic gas cylinders, the police said. As per police, the incident was captured on the CCTV camera, which displays the faces of the accused clearly. The Habibganj police have registered a theft case, and are persevering in efforts to apprehend the accused. Complainant named SP Sharma Habibganj police station in-charge Sanjeev Chouksey told Bhaskar English that the complainant, SP Sharma, is an elderly man, who retired from the Satpuda Bhawan in Bhopal many years ago. He resides in E-7, Arera colony with his wife, while his two children are based in different cities owing to their occupation. Theft discovered after cylinders go missing On Saturday early morning, when Sharma’s wife woke up and came to the porch, she noticed that two gas cylinders kept there were missing. She informed Sharma about the same, and the duo sifted through the CCTV cameras installed at their house. The duo discovered that at around 4 am on Saturday, two thieves arrived in front of their house. One of them scaled the gate to enter the house’s porch, while the other one stood outside. The CCTV visuals captured the thief standing inside passing on both the gas cylinders to the man waiting outside. FIR registered, manhunt on After discovering the incident, Sharma’s wife, with the help of their kin, approached the Habibganj police and filed the complaint, submitting the CCTV footage as evidence. Inspector Chouksey said that the police are currently scanning the CCTV footage of the nearby areas too, to determine the route through which the thieves escaped. Second theft menace in Bhopal’s posh area within a week It is noteworthy that this is the second theft incident in a posh area of Bhopal this week. Earlier this week, on Tuesday night, unidentified bike-borne miscreants had snatched two cell phones from the IG (Intelligence, MP PHQ) Dr Ashish in the Char Imli area, a locality touted as the safest one in Bhopal. After 45 hours of sleeplessness and relentless work, the cops managed to track down the accused in the case late Friday night.
