Bhopal’s Teela Jamalpura police on Wednesday laid hands on two men accused of robbing a pan masala trader of his moped and Rs 1 lakh in cash in the area, the police said. The crime, as learnt by the police, was committed to repay debts. The accused were identified as Kashav Yadav (20) from Nishatpura and Deepak Lodhi (23) from rural Bhopal’s Eintkhedi area. During the operation, the police seized a motorcycle and Rs 55,000 in cash. On the basis of their statements, a minor involved in the robbery was also detained, while another accused is already serving time in jail. Attack unfolded near Teela Jamalpura bridge Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-3), Abhinav Chouksey said that on July 18, 2025, the complainant, Sachin Jain (44), a trader by profession, was returning home from Nishatpura. Near the Teela Jamalpura bridge, close to the Army area, three men on-board a motorcycle deliberately collided with his two-wheeler. As Sachin fell, one of the assailants snatched his moped along with the bag containing Rs 1 lakh and escaped. Moped dumped in river The suspects attempted to erase evidence by dumping the stolen scooter into the Halali River. Police scrutinised over 100 CCTV camera recordings to identify the culprits. Call detail records (CDRs) and technical surveillance further confirmed their involvement. Following the investigation, Yadav and Lodhi were arrested, and the stolen money was partly recovered. The juvenile accomplice was sent to a correctional facility. Mastermind already serving imprisonment The arrested men told the cops that the mastermind behind the robbery, Rajkumar Reddy, is currently lodged in jail on charges of attempted murder. The police said that Reddy had planned the heist, but his associates executed it while he remained incarcerated.
