Intel-US deal: Chipmaker gets $5.7bn; CFO says it will ‘save’ company

The Trump administration strategically acquired a ten percent stake in Intel. This move aimed to stop Intel from selling its manufacturing unit. The US government converted 8.9 billion dollars in grants into equity. This made the government a major shareholder. A five-year warrant allows the government to acquire more shares if Intel’s foundry ownership drops.
