In a Junagadh village, a Dalit man, Sagar Makwana, was allegedly assaulted and subjected to casteist slurs by upper-caste individuals for sporting a moustache and beard. The attack, which also severely injured Makwana’s father-in-law, occurred after a confrontation escalated over Makwana’s appearance. Police have registered a case and are actively pursuing the accused, who face charges under the Atrocities Act.
