A 6.1 magnitude earthquake hit the Kuril Islands on Saturday. The National Center for Seismology reported the event. The quake occurred at a depth of 10 km. Its epicenter was at latitude 49.94°N and longitude 162.70°E. This follows an 8.8 magnitude earthquake off Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula. A 5.1 magnitude tremor also occurred near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky recently.
