Road ahead with rural tag gone: Bengaluru Central University to become Dr Manmohan Singh University; new name will help get central funds, says official

The Karnataka state cabinet, meeting at Nandi Hills, approved renaming Bengaluru Rural district as ‘Bengaluru North’ and Bengaluru City University as ‘Dr Manmohan Singh University’. Bagepalli in Chikkaballapura district will now be known as Bhagyanagar. The cabinet also addressed mining irregularities and approved projects worth Rs 3,400 crore, including investments in drinking water supply.
