In a landmark verdict, a Barrackpore court sentenced five individuals, including Panihati councillor Tarak Guha, to life imprisonment for the lynching of fish trader Sambhu Chakraborty in 2014. The attack, suspected to be over theft, saw justice served after nearly a decade of legal proceedings. Chakraborty’s wife, Jyotsna, expressed relief and recounted the struggles of raising her children alone.
