India’s unemployment rate reached 5.1% in April 2025, according to the first monthly labour force data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. The survey, based on the Current Weekly Status, revealed a higher unemployment rate among youth aged 15-29 years, especially young women in urban areas. The Labour Force Participation Rate stood at 55.6% nationally.
