No Sanju Samson, Rinku Singh returns:BCCI announces 15-member T20I squad for Zimbabwe tour; Ashok Sharma receives maiden call-up

Amid the India’s tour of England, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the 15-member T20I squad for the Zimbabwe tour. No place for Sanju Samson, while Rinku Singh returns to the T20I squad. However, Ashok Sharma received his maiden national call-up. BCCI has also shared the updated squad for the ODI series against England, which is scheduled to be played from 14 July. With the latest developments, Nitish Reddy has been released from the squad and a replacement has been announced for the all-rounder. No place for Samson, Rinku returns to T20I squad Sanju Samson has been left out of the squad for the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe later this month. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) did not specify whether Samson was rested or dropped. Along with him, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Washington Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi were also omitted from the 15-member squad led by Shreyas Iyer. The selectors recalled Rinku Singh and Mayank Yadav, while handing maiden T20I call-ups to Prabhsimran Singh, Yash Thakur, Ashok Sharma and Harsh Dubey. Meanwhile, Shivam Dube has been drafted into India’s ODI squad as a replacement for the three-match series following the T20Is. Notably, speedstar Mayank Yadav has also been included along with Rinku Singh, as mentioned earlier. The three-match T20I series is set to begin on 23 July, followed by 25 July and 26 July. All the three matches will be played in Harare. Notably, with the international debut, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has also retained his spot in the 15-member squad.
