On Wednesday night, lightning struck the 200-year-old Lord Lakshminarayan and Ram temple in Chorani village, 5 km from Shivpur. As soon as the lightning struck, there was a loud explosion and the main spire of the temple was completely destroyed. Meanwhile, two other spires also suffered heavy damage. The sound of the explosion was heard up to about three kilometers away. The lightning was so intense that the debris from the temple reached nearby fields and the roofs of surrounding houses. However, no casualties were reported in this incident. The lightning struck the spire above the idol of Lord Shri Ram in such a way that a large part of it rested on the roof directly above the idol. Renovated 15 Years Ago- Villagers informed that this temple is a religious site about 200 years old, dating back to the time of the Ratlam princely state. Idols of Lord Lakshminarayan and Lord Ram are installed here. In 2011, villagers, with public cooperation, collected 25 lakh rupees and renovated the temple. During the same period, all three spires were constructed and consecrated. Post navigation VIDEO| Reels over rules?:Youths hang from moving car in Ujjain; police seize vehicle
