The signalling system of the Bhopal Metro project has undergone a detailed safety inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) team as part of the mandatory approval process before commercial operations. On Thursday, 25 June, the CMRS team carried out a comprehensive inspection of the metro’s signalling and train control systems. During the visit, CMRS Neelabhra Sengupta inspected the Operations Control Centre and Depot Control Centre at the Subhash Nagar Metro Depot to review the functioning of the signalling and train operations management systems. Safety systems undergo detailed technical evaluation The inspection included live monitoring of train movements, testing of the command and control system, signalling network and other key safety arrangements. The team also examined the performance of the Automatic Train Protection system, interlocking system, communication network, point machines and emergency braking system to ensure they met safety standards. Emergency response systems also put through tests Officials also assessed how the signalling system would respond in the event of technical failures or emergency situations, ensuring that train operations remain safe and efficient under all conditions. As part of the inspection, the CMRS team travelled by metro train from Subhash Nagar Metro Station to AIIMS Metro Station. During the journey, they inspected station infrastructure, signalling installations, operational safety measures and other technical facilities along the corridor. Chairman reviews progress of both metro projects Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) Chairman Jaideep visited the Subhash Nagar Metro Depot on Thursday to review the progress of both the Bhopal and Indore Metro projects. During the review meeting, he assessed the current status of construction, pending works and the upcoming project schedule. He directed officials to complete all remaining works within the stipulated timeline while ensuring strict adherence to quality and safety standards. Officials directed to meet project completion deadlines MPMRCL Managing Director S. Krishna Chaitanya presented an update on the progress of both metro projects, including construction activities, technical preparedness and future operational plans. Senior officials of MPMRCL also attended the meeting. The chairman instructed officials and executing agencies to work in close coordination to complete all remaining works within the prescribed timeframe.
