A video from Kharparas village in Rajgarh district has surfaced, showing a young man being tied up, beaten, and branded with a hot wire. Following the incident, Kali Peeth police registered a case against several villagers under multiple sections, including the SC/ST Act. According to police, around 11 pm on 23 June, Govind Verma allegedly broke into the house of 90-year-old Jatan Bai Sondhiya, who was sleeping alone. He is accused of removing the silver anklets from her feet and attempting to take off her silver bangles. The elderly woman woke up and raised an alarm, prompting the accused to flee. Villagers caught him in the morning On the morning of 24 June, news of the incident spread in the village. After this, the villagers started searching for the accused. He was caught a short while later. The accused was brought to the village, his hands were tied, and he was beaten. People in the crowd beat up the young man. During this, a young woman brought a hot iron wire from her house. She branded the young man’s leg. In the video, the young man appears to be writhing in pain. People present during the incident made a video of it, which later went viral on social media. Interrogation after tying to a tractor-trolley Villagers tied the accused youth to a tractor-trolley and interrogated him in the village itself. In the video, some people are seen questioning him. After this, the accused was handed over to the police. Loot case registered Based on the complaint of the elderly woman, the police have registered a case of housebreaking and robbery against the accused Govind Verma. Station in-charge Jitendra Ajnare said that silver anklets have also been recovered from the possession of the accused. During the investigation, it came to light that Govind Verma belongs to the Scheduled Caste category. After the video of the youth being beaten up surfaced, the police registered a case against four people, including Devraj and Lakhan, under various sections, including the SC-ST Act and assault. Investigation at SDOP level Police say that the entire matter is being investigated at the SDOP level.
