Bhopal student Ishan Mangal has secured All India Rank (AIR) 15 in the Chartered Accountancy (CA) Intermediate examination, earning recognition for his outstanding performance. Following the announcement of the results, Ishan attributed his success to disciplined study habits, a well-planned strategy, and unwavering consistency. Ishan said he devised a clear preparation strategy immediately after receiving his CA Foundation results. He divided his nine-month preparation period into multiple phases. During the first four months, he completed all subjects of Group 2 along with Taxation. He then shifted his focus to Group 1 subjects while simultaneously beginning revision. The final two and a half months before the examination were dedicated entirely to revision. Taxation and audit were the biggest challenges According to Ishan, Taxation initially proved to be the most difficult subject. However, repeatedly studying the provisions helped him develop a strong command over the topic. To simplify Audit, he relied on mnemonic techniques taught by his teachers, enabling him to memorize and retain key concepts more effectively. Balanced self-study with classroom learning Ishan combined self-study with formal coaching classes during his preparation. While he used classes to understand concepts thoroughly, he spent his personal study time revising and practicing independently. He maintained a daily study schedule of nine to ten hours, increasing it to around 12 hours per day during the month leading up to the examination. Focused on revision instead of new topics A month before the exams, Ishan deliberately avoided starting any new topics. Instead, he concentrated exclusively on revising previously studied material and practicing questions to strengthen his preparation. Stayed away from social media to maintain focus To minimize distractions, Ishan kept himself away from social media platforms such as Instagram. However, he continued to use WhatsApp and YouTube in moderation as part of his regular routine. Advice for future aspirants Sharing his advice with other students, Ishan emphasized the importance of consistency, saying that students should make it a habit to sit down and study every day, regardless of their mood. He also recommended sticking to one study material and one trusted teacher instead of switching between multiple sources, which can lead to confusion. Strong academic record Ishan has consistently excelled academically. He scored 97.8% in his Class 12 examinations and had earlier secured a state rank in the CA Foundation exam. His father, Mukesh Mangal, is associated with the finance sector, while his mother is Jyoti Mangal.
