virat-kohli-returns-to-india-odi-squad-for-england-series:rohit-sharma-also-included;-varun-chakaravarthy-ruled-out-of-ireland-t20is

The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has announced India’s ODI squad for the series against England. Virat Kohli, who missed the ODIs against Afghanistan due to a hamstring injury, has been included in the Shubman Gill-led squad. But his selection remains subject to fitness clearance. Meanwhile, the BCCI also announced that Varun Chakaravarthy has been ruled out of the upcoming T20Is due to a left foot injury. Bumrah returns, Virat Kohli’s inclusion subject to fitness clearance One of the major highlights of India’s ODI squad for the England series is the return of Jasprit Bumrah. The premier pacer will thus be set to play his first ODI since the 2023 ODI World Cup final on 19 November. Bumrah was not part of the ODI series against Afghanistan, which India won 3-0. Hardik Pandya, as previously reported, does not feature in Team India’s ODI squad. His last ODI was way back in the final of the 2025 Champions Trophy. Another talking point is Harshit Rana’s return. The 24-year-old recovered from a knee injury and was part of the India squad for the third ODI against Afghanistan, which he did not play. Shubman Gill, who had his first ODI series win as captain, will continue to lead the team with Shreyas Iyer as his deputy. Young pacer Gurnoor Brar, who impressed in his debut bilateral series against Afghanistan, was included in India’s ODI squad as well. Brar had picked up seven wickets in three matches. No Varun Chakaravarthy in Ireland tour The mystery spinner struggled with a foot injury in IPL 2026, where he played for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), picking up 11 wickets in 11 matches. Additionally, Prince Yadav has been included in India’s T20I squad for the two matches against Ireland, that are to be played on 26 and 28 June. India’s tour of Ireland will also be Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s first assignment in international cricket after the explosive batter became the youngest batter to be picked for the Indian cricket team, at 15 years of age.
