A 27-year-old UPSC aspirant allegedly died by suicide in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district. A 12-page suicide note recovered from his room reportedly accuses his wife, mother-in-law and father-in-law. The incident took place in the Indira Nagar area on Monday, while the note came to light on Tuesday. The deceased, Rahul Meghwal, a resident of Nalkheda in Agar-Malwa district, was living in a rented house in Ujjain and preparing for the UPSC examination. According to police, his roommate had gone out for some work and found Rahul hanging when he returned. After receiving information, Nagjhiri police reached the spot and sent the body for a post-mortem. During a search of the room, police recovered a 12-page suicide note and have started an investigation into the case. Was under stress since marriage Primary investigation revealed that Rahul was married on February 10, 2026. He had been under stress ever since. He had repeatedly told his family members that his wife Kavita alias Mannat Kamariya, mother-in-law Siddhika Kamariya, and father-in-law Gopal Singh Chauhan were harassing him. Rahul wrote, addressing his parents- Instead of giving happiness, I am leaving by giving sorrow. I was constantly living in suffocation. Now there is no way out. Now peace will only be found after death. Wife and mother-in-law were pressuring for a divorce Rahul wrote in the suicide note, ‘From the early days of marriage, my wife maintained distance. On the wedding night, she had said that you have no right over me. Don’t touch me. Rahul alleged that about ten days after the marriage, his wife and mother-in-law started pressuring him for a divorce. He was threatened and intimidated many times. He began to feel that a conspiracy was being hatched to murder him. Rahul wrote that after marriage, his life completely changed and he was mentally broken. People taunted him, asking why he married a girl whom no one else was marrying. He wrote that if a girl has a preference for someone else, she should not be forced to marry another young man. The life of a poor or innocent young man should not be ruined. Police will interrogate the in-laws Rahul’s body was handed over to his family after the post-mortem on Tuesday. Police said – they are investigating based on the suicide note, mobile phone, call details, and other evidence. Rahul’s in-laws will also be questioned. Further legal action will be taken after the investigation.
