The Pakistan government has reduced the price of petrol by Pakistani rupees (PKR) 4 per litre and High Speed Diesel (HSD) by PKR 2 per litre. This has brought the price of one liter of petrol to Rs 373.78 (Pakistani rupees) and diesel to Rs 378.78 per liter. The new prices have come into effect from 13 June. Petrol-Diesel Prices in India and Pakistan Note: ₹1 = PKR 2.93. Total reduction of PKR 41 per liter in five weeks In five weeks, the price of petrol has decreased by a total of PKR 41 (₹14 in Indian rupees) per liter. Earlier, that is last week, the government had also reduced petrol prices by PKR 4 per liter, however at that time no change was made in the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) and it remained stable at PKR 380.78 . Heavy burden of tax on fuel prices The Pakistan government is collecting a total tax of PKR 125 per liter on petrol. This tax includes things like petroleum levy, customs duty and climate levy. On the other hand, if we talk about High-Speed Diesel (HSD), the government is charging a tax of about PKR 100 per liter on it. This includes customs duty, petroleum levy and climate support levy along with Inland Freight Equalization Margin (IFEM). Prices being fixed every Friday night The Pakistan government has been reviewing petroleum prices every Friday night for some time now. Actually, there has been a fuel crisis in Pakistan since the war that started between America and Iran on February 28 (which is currently paused).
