A 26-year-old man died following an alleged assault linked to a long-standing dispute between neighbours in Baledi village under Ingoriya police station limits in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district. The deceased was identified as Rahul Chauhan, son of Kalu Singh Chauhan. His family has accused neighbouring residents of murdering him. Family alleges attack over old rivalry According to family members, a dispute over a drainage issue had been ongoing between the two families for a long time. The matter had recently escalated into a physical altercation, which was also reported to the police. The family alleged that the attack was carried out due to this old enmity. Assault took place at field, says brother Shivay Chauhan, the deceased’s brother, said Rahul was at his agricultural field between midnight and 1 am when several people from the neighbouring family allegedly reached the spot and assaulted him. He claimed Rahul suffered serious injuries in the attack and died as a result. The family has named Bhurala, Rohit and others as accused in the case. Police begin investigation After receiving information about the incident, Ingoriya police reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem examination. Officers also inspected the scene and collected evidence. The incident has created tension in the village, and police have launched an investigation. Two suspects in custody Ingoriya police station Sub-Inspector Rajan Tomar said a dispute and scuffle had taken place between two groups, during which Rahul Chauhan sustained serious injuries and later died. He said the body has been sent for postmortem and efforts are underway to trace the accused. Two suspects have been taken into custody, and further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
