He was grandly welcomed like a victor at the railway station. A large number of people gathered to welcome Sanjay, a resident of Delahi village in Sirmaur tehsil. This son of Vindhya was heartily felicitated amidst the beats of drums, garlands of flowers, and slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. Recalling his courageous operation, Sanjay Tiwari said that his country is dearer to him than his own life. He informed that he had sustained three bullet injuries, but he was not worried about his wounds. The most important thing for him was that the terrorist should not escape. During an anti-terrorism operation in Jammu and Kashmir, his team received confirmed intelligence about the presence of Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists. Following this, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. During this, the terrorists suddenly opened indiscriminate fire. Amidst heavy gunfire and challenging circumstances, Sanjay Tiwari continued to advance as part of the leading assault team. During the encounter, he sustained three bullet wounds to his arm, knee, and other parts of his body. Despite being seriously injured, he did not abandon his position and, displaying indomitable courage, continued retaliatory action and neutralised one Lashkar terrorist.
