Police have solved the ₹2 lakh robbery of a businessman who had come from Indore to Jabalpur to recover money. Shockingly, the mastermind was the businessman’s own friend. Sitting in Indore, nearly 500 km away, the accused allegedly directed his associates over the phone and orchestrated the entire robbery. Police have arrested five accused, while the main accused, Piyush Patel, remains absconding. The robbery took place on the evening of June 7 in the Madhotal police station area, where businessmen were attacked and robbed after chilli powder was thrown into their eyes. Police have recovered the stolen cash, mobile phones, knives, and two two-wheelers from the accused. Businessmen came from Indore to Jabalpur to collect debt Abhay Kumar Singh, a resident of Indore, told the police that he had come to Jabalpur on June 6 with his friend Lakhan Chaurasia to collect business debt. His friend Piyush Patel, who lives in Indore, is originally from Jabalpur. He had advised both of them to stay at his brother-in-law’s house located on Patan Bypass. The next day, both traders went to Majhauli village and returned with Rs 2 lakh of business debt from there. During this time, Piyush called and said that one of his items was with a boy, and asked them to bring it along. A young man arrived on a bike and handed them a packet. Entrapped on pretext of dropping them at the bus stand
The young man, who had brought packets for the traders preparing to return to Indore, offered to drop them at the bus stand. Both of them sat on his bike. He was taking them via the highway service road. Around 7:30 PM, three youths on a white Activa arrived and threw chilli powder into the traders’ eyes. The bike lost control and fell. After this, the miscreants held a knife to them, looted ₹2 lakh from their bag, and fled. However, when Rajendra Patel, the young man riding the bike with the traders, tried to escape, Abhay and Lakhan caught him on the spot. Entire conspiracy revealed during interrogation Based on information received on Tuesday morning, the police interrogated Rajendra Patel. He revealed that the entire incident was carried out at the behest of Piyush Patel, who lives in Indore. Piyush was constantly in touch over the phone and was giving instructions to the accused. During the investigation, the names of Alok Pandey, Rohit alias Rohan Thakur, Sharad Ben, and Brijesh alias Bijju Anna came to light. Police arrested all the accused within a few hours. The search for the main accused and conspirator, Piyush Patel, is ongoing.
