I killed my daughter because she had gone beyond my control. I raised her like a son but she brought shame to the family. If she didn’t listen to me, was she a daughter or an enemy? This statement was given by Kishan Gurjar (70) before the police. He revealed that on May 8, 2026, he hanged his daughter Julie Gurjar (33). After that, along with his sons Ramsevak (50) and Deepu (35), he took the body to the field and burned it. When the truth came out 26 days after the incident, on June 3, the police took Kishan, Ramsevak and Deepu Gurjar into custody. Their official arrest has not been announced. The bones found at the crime scene have been sent for examination. A murder case will be registered after the report comes. Until then, all three will remain in the police station lockup. The case is from Lakhiya village in Dabra police station area. To understand this complex case, Dainik Bhaskar spoke with Gwalior SP Dharmvir Yadav. An attempt was made to find out why and how the accused committed the crime. On the night of May 8, around 10 pm, there was a dispute with daughter Julie Gurjar. When the quarrel escalated, he strangled his daughter in anger. She fell unconscious. After that, he made a noose and hanged her. After some time, he called Ramsevak and Deepak Gurjar to dispose of the body. Around 12 midnight, all three put the body in a tractor and reached the field near the canal, one kilometer away. Here they burnt the body. They waited for about two hours for the pyre to cool down. After that, they cooled it by putting soil on the fire. The remaining bones and remains were scattered here and there in the field. Some were buried in the ground. They came home around 4 AM in the morning and all three went to sleep. Performed puja for peace, also gave kanya bhoj Kishan is a farmer by profession. The family has influence in society. He told that after coming home, he secretly performed puja-path for the peace of the soul. After 12 days, he also organized kanya bhoj (feast for girls). Days were passing, but there was fear every moment that the secret might be revealed. When relatives asked about Julie, he had to give evasive answers. He thought how long would they hide it. All three were living in terror at home but to show people, they were roaming around as on normal days. Confessed to the crime of murder under strict interrogation When Julie wasn’t seen for about 20 days, whispers started in the village. People suspected that hot-tempered Kishan might have murdered her. The village gossip also reached the police. On June 3, Additional SP Rural Jayraj Kuber, Dabra Rural Police Station In-charge IPS Manoj Kumar, SDOP Saurabh Kumar, and City Police Station In-charge Sanjay Sharma reached the village. They brought Kishan Gurjar along with both his sons to Tekanpur outpost. Here, all three were questioned about Julie one by one. Under pressure, Kishan revealed the entire story. Daughter had a relationship with a boy from the same village Kishan told the police that his daughter had developed a romantic relationship with a boy from the same village. On May 5, she went missing from home. A missing person report was also filed at the rural police station. On May 7, she was recovered from Chakhoti village in Morena. After this, Kishan kept trying to convince his daughter to end her love relationship with the boy. People in society were making all kinds of comments, but she was not ready to listen. He started feeling that Julie had brought shame upon him. She had blackened his face in society. On May 7, he couldn’t sleep the whole night. He made up his mind to murder his daughter. Divorced from husband, has one son Julie was married to Ranjit Gurjar, a resident of Bhainsnari village in Dabra, on May 10, 2010. The couple also has a son. There used to be disputes between husband and wife over one thing or another. Three years ago, Julie came to her maternal home in Lakhiya and started living there. Ranjit had submitted applications at Bhitarwar police station and the SP office. Later, he also filed a case for divorce. Ranjit says that since she left, we had nothing to do with her. We came to know about her death through newspapers. Further action after lab report arrives SP Dharmvir Singh said – The police currently do not have concrete evidence based on which this can be declared a murder. There is a confession by the accused but the lab report of the bone remains found in the field is yet to come. The report will clarify whether the bones belong to Julie or some animal. If the report mentions human bones, then a DNA test will be conducted, which will clarify whether these are Julie’s. Only after that will further action be taken. Senior Criminal Lawyer Brijesh Pandey says that the case depends on the DNA report. Until the DNA test of the remains comes positive, nothing can be said clearly about the case.
