Madhya Pradesh karate player Deeksha Singh Gurung delivered an outstanding performance at the Karate India Organisation (KIO) Sub-Junior, Cadet and Junior Karate Championship 2026, winning the gold medal after an impressive unbeaten run in the national-level competition. The championship was held in Uttarakhand from June 3 to 7, where Deeksha secured victory in five consecutive matches to claim the top honour. Dominant run to the gold medal Representing Madhya Pradesh, Deeksha Singh Gurung, a trainee at Tatya Tope Stadium in Bhopal, began her campaign with a commanding 8-0 victory over her opponent from Tamil Nadu in the opening round. She then defeated competitors from Daman and Diu (4-2) and Delhi (6-1) before overcoming Bihar’s player 3-1 in the semifinal. In the final, Deeksha edged past her opponent from Assam 1-0 to clinch the gold medal and the national title.
