The second shift of the Forest Guard, Field Guard, Jail Guard and Assistant Jail Superintendent recruitment examination conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (ESB) was postponed across the state on Sunday due to a technical failure. The examination was scheduled to be held from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm, but could not be conducted because of a server failure. Thousands of candidates who had reached examination centres across Madhya Pradesh were made to wait for nearly three hours. They were later informed that the examination had been postponed, triggering anger and protests at several centres. ESB subsequently announced June 20 as the new examination date. Students had come from other districts to take the exam Dharmendra Dubey, a resident of Dindori, said he works as a mechanic and had reached Satna a day before the examination. He said, “I lost two days’ wages and spent money on travel. After waiting for hours, the examination was cancelled. Who will compensate for these losses?” Candidates from Mandla, Chhindwara, Balaghat and Jabalpur, among other districts, also reported similar difficulties and financial losses. Protest in Satna, candidates reached Collectorate Candidates at the Aditya College examination centre in Satna were forced to wait for a long period. After receiving information about the postponement, many students became angry and, under the leadership of NSUI state secretary Anand Pandey, marched on foot to the Collectorate. They staged a protest and submitted a memorandum demanding action against officials responsible for the mismanagement and compensation for the financial losses suffered by candidates. The administration accepted the memorandum and assured the protesters that the matter would be forwarded to higher authorities. The online examination was scheduled in two shifts — from 10 am to 12 noon in the first shift and from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm in the second shift. Around 500 candidates had arrived in Satna to appear for the examination. While the first shift was conducted without any issues, the second shift could not begin because the server went down. Exams will be held again on June 20 in the first shift According to ESB, the examination scheduled for the second shift on June 7 has been postponed due to a technical problem. The examination will now be conducted on June 20 from 10 am to 12 noon in the first shift. Candidates will be required to download a fresh admit card.
