Domestic LPG cylinders have become ₹29 costlier in Madhya Pradesh, with the revised rates coming into effect from Sunday (June 7). In Bhopal, the price of a 14.2-kg cylinder has increased from ₹918.50 to ₹947.50. Among the state’s five major cities, Gwalior has recorded the highest rate, with a cylinder now costing ₹1,025. Prices have crossed ₹1,000 in Ujjain as well, where a cylinder is now priced at ₹1,001. The revised rates are ₹970 in Indore and ₹919 in Jabalpur. This is the second hike in domestic LPG prices in about three months. Earlier, on March 7, oil companies had raised cylinder prices by ₹60. With the latest increase, domestic LPG cylinders have become ₹110 more expensive within three months. According to oil companies, the price revision was necessitated by rising global energy costs and losses incurred on domestic LPG sales. Companies claim loss of ₹703 per cylinder Before LPG, prices of petrol, diesel, and CNG also increased In the past few weeks, prices of petrol, diesel, and CNG have also increased. In May, petrol and diesel prices increased by a total of ₹7.50 per litre, while CNG became costlier by approximately ₹6 per kg. Companies are incurring losses of approximately ₹11 per litre on petrol and ₹33.6 per litre on diesel. Despite this, companies claim that petrol-diesel is still being sold at prices lower than the cost. The government says that the entire burden of the increase in global prices has not been passed on to consumers. Government oil companies are themselves bearing some of the burden of expensive crude oil. How is the price of gas cylinder determined?
