A stray dog injured more than 40 people in the Sanwer Road area of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on Friday. The victims include doctors, nurses, medical students, patients, security guards and passersby. More than 16 of those injured are associated with Aurobindo Hospital. The dog remained uncaptured till late Friday night. The attacks began around 8 am inside the hospital premises. According to hospital manager Dr Neeraj Sen, the dog entered through the rear side of the hospital and first attacked staff members. It then moved through different parts of the Sanwer Road area, biting several people and triggering panic among residents. See two pictures More than 16 victims treated at Aurobindo By evening, more than 16 people were treated at Aurobindo Hospital, while other injured reached nearby hospitals. Those who received treatment include Dr. Smriti, Dr. Akshita, Sachin Rajput, Anjani Sharma, Seema, Shobha, Parinita, Kusum, Pranav Gupta, Govinda, Vishnu, Afsar, Rajeev Dhakad and Aryan among others. Dog reached several areas According to eyewitnesses and locals, after leaving the hospital premises, the dog reached LNCT College, Bardari village, Rewati Range, and Renaissance College area. Many people in these areas also fell victim to it. After the incident, concern remained among people in Sanwer Road and surrounding areas. Dog not caught till night Despite receiving information about continuous attacks, the dog could not be caught till late night. In the matter, Municipal Commissioner Kshitij Singhal said that he was not aware of such a major incident. After receiving information, he called it a serious matter and mentioned sending a team. Villagers themselves took to the field for rescue Due to the dog squad not arriving on time, villagers had to protect themselves. In Bardari and surrounding areas, people came out on the streets with sticks. Local people also tried to catch the dog, but it kept moving from one area to another. The search continued late into the night. City receives 200 dog bite cases daily The problem of dog bites in Indore is continuously increasing. According to Dr. Rupendra Patel, in-charge of Government Hukumchand Polyclinic (Lal Hospital), there has been an increase in such cases in recent years. Around 200 patients arrive at the hospital daily for treatment.
