In Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district, the son of the president of Jama Masjid and a young entrepreneur was beaten to death. The attackers first chased and assaulted the father, then attacked his two sons with sticks, rods and bats. One of the injured sons, Salman Khan, later died during treatment at Choithram Hospital in Indore. Father and sons attacked after temple dispute According to police, the incident took place on 30 May when Shamsuddin Patel, a resident of Sagaur, was attacked near the mosque by local miscreants. He was chased and beaten. After the attack, Shamsuddin informed his sons, Salman Khan and Bhura Patel, who rushed to the spot. However, the attackers also assaulted them severely when they arrived. Father demands bulldozer action Shamsuddin Patel said that all the accused are “traitors” and demanded strict action against them, including bulldozer action on their houses. Family refused to perform the last rites After Salman Khan’s death, the family initially refused to accept the body, demanding arrest of all accused and bulldozer action on their houses. Later, after assurances from officials, the last rites were performed. Senior police and administrative officials reached the spot and assured the family that the remaining accused would soon be arrested and those seen in the video would also face action. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sadiq (29), Saeed (33), Salim (37) and Salam (35), all sons of Hatem Khan and residents near Jama Masjid. Weapons including sticks and cricket bats used in the attack have been recovered. The accused were produced in court and sent to jail. Two other accused, Mujahid and Naushad, are still absconding and efforts to trace them are underway.
