Action against illegal colonies in the capital has once again entered the phase of notices. The municipal administration has identified 15 new under-construction private colonies in the Kolar area of Zone-19 and issued notices to the colonisers. They have been instructed to submit valid permission-related documents within 15 days. A warning has been issued to file an FIR if the documents are not received. However, the record of the last three years shows that such actions have not yielded any concrete results so far. In 2023, 576 illegal colonies were identified in the city. Out of these, the process to regularise 320 colonies developed before December 2016 began, but till date, not a single colony has been fully legalized. On the remaining 255 colonies, only superficial action continues.
