Police have busted a high-tech gang involved in theft, targeting deserted houses in Gwalior city. Inderganj police have arrested two more accused in this case, recovering gold, silver, and cash worth approximately 94 lakh 25 thousand rupees. Police are considering this the biggest recovery of the year. According to the police, the gang’s mastermind, Vivek Prajapati, was a computer engineering student. In the greed of earning more money in less time, he chose the path of theft and formed an organised gang. The gang members used technology to commit crimes while avoiding police surveillance. The case came to light after the incident of May 5 The case is from May 5, 2026, when thieves broke the lock of the deserted house of Ajay Shankar Mittal, a resident of the Inderganj area, and stole jewellery worth millions of rupees and other valuable items. After the complaint, the police registered a case under the BNS sections and started an investigation. During the investigation, the police identified the members of the gang and initiated action. Using Instagram calls and secret chats for communication During interrogation, it was revealed that the main accused, Vivek Prajapati, used Instagram calls and secret chats instead of normal mobile calls or messaging apps to communicate with his associates and family members, so that the police could not track his activities. The accused kept misleading the police for 48 hours Even after his arrest, he tried to mislead the police for about 48 hours, but after questioning his accomplice, Farman Khan, the entire gang was exposed. Based on the information provided by the accused, the police reached the ravines area beyond Panihar Toll Plaza, where the stolen goods were buried in the ground and hidden under stones. From here, the police recovered a large quantity of gold and silver. 300 grams of gold and 14.5 kg of silver were seized CSP Robin Jain said that the masterminds of the gang, Vivek Prajapati and Farhan Khan, were caught on Monday night. Before this, the minor accused, goldsmith Vivek Soni, who bought the stolen goods, Akash Mahaur and Mayur Rathore were caught. From them, a total of 300 grams of gold, 14.5 kg of silver, and an i-20 car bought with the stolen money were found.
