The CBI team probing the high-profile Twisha Sharma death case in Bhopal reached the residence of former judge Giribala Singh and her son Samarth on Monday. Investigators reconstruct the circumstances surrounding the incident by hanging and lowering an 80-kg dummy from a noose. The agency is trying to determine what exactly happened at the time of the incident and how closely the available evidence matches the conditions at the scene. Meanwhile, the CBI has obtained crucial information regarding Samarth’s period on the run. The investigation has revealed that after the FIR was registered on May 15, Samarth was unable to leave the city immediately. He reportedly remained in Bhopal for nearly three days before travelling to Jabalpur, where he stayed in hiding for about five days. The CBI is now examining his activities, contacts and any possible assistance he may have received during this period. The agency has also summoned the doctor who had advised Twisha to undergo an abortion. At the same time, investigators are gathering detailed information about the events from the moment Twisha’s body was discovered to its removal from the noose and transportation to the hospital. While Samarth has maintained that Twisha died by suicide, he has not provided a clear explanation for the reasons behind it. He has claimed that following the abortion, Twisha fell into depression and took the extreme step. Doctor summoned regarding abortion The CBI is continuing its investigation from every possible angle. Twisha’s pregnancy is also being examined in detail as part of the probe. To seek answers related to the abortion aspect, the agency has issued a summons to the doctor who allegedly advised Twisha to undergo a medical termination of pregnancy (MTP). Investigators want to verify how much truth there is in the claims being made regarding the pregnancy. Suicide or Murder? Evidence Being Investigated Since Twisha Sharma’s death, the case has remained caught between theories of suicide and murder. While Samarth has consistently maintained that it was a suicide, investigators are examining the circumstances leading up to her death, the nature of their relationship, allegations of physical assault and evidence collected from the scene. The CBI is also focusing on determining the immediate trigger if it was indeed a suicide and, if not, reconstructing the sequence of events that may have led to her death. Search for helpers during absconding The agency is now trying to identify individuals who may have directly or indirectly helped Samarth after the FIR was lodged. His mobile phone records, location history, banking transactions and digital chats are being scrutinised as part of the investigation. Officials have indicated that if anyone is found to have assisted him while he was absconding, legal action could also be initiated against them. Connecting links from crime scene to hospital The CBI is also questioning Samarth about the exact condition in which he first saw Twisha. Investigators are seeking details about who brought her down from the noose, who was present inside the house at the time and what happened until she was taken to hospital. These statements are being matched with electronic and forensic evidence to prepare an accurate timeline of events. Questioning is also focused on allegations of tampering with evidence and claims that Twisha was assaulted before her death. Investigators are analysing Samarth’s mobile phone, call detail records (CDRs), digital chats, banking transactions and location history. The objective is to determine where he stayed while absconding and who made arrangements for him during that period.
