Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Tim David has been slapped with a fine of 50% of his match fee after the IPL 2026 final. The Australian cricketer was said to have breached Level 1 of the IPL Code of Conduct. David was part of the RCB team, which won their second consecutive IPL title, beating the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the final in Ahmedabad. With that victory, RCB entered an elite list, becoming only the third team in history to win back-to-back IPL titles. Tim David fined for throwing ice bag in umpire’s direction As per an IPL statement, the RCB star was said to have breached Article 2.9 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct which is for “throwing a ball (or any other item of cricket equipment such as a water bottle) at or near a Player, Team Official, Umpire, Match Referee or any other third person in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner during a Match.” As per the statement, this took place in the 10th over of the first innings when David was seen throwing an ice bag ‘aggressively’ in umpire Nitin Menon’s direction. This was the time when Jordan Cox’s catch to dismiss Washington Sundar was ruled out by the umpire, who felt that the ball was grounded. This was the third time David committed a Level 1 offence and his demerit point count reached five and hence, would miss the first match for RCB or any team he is part of next season.
