gujarat-titans-bus-catches-fire-after-miserable-loss-in-final:players-escape-massive-scare,-left-stranded-on-road-for-an-hour

After the disappointing end to the IPL 2026 campaign, losing the IPL title to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunday night got worse for the Gujarat Titans as their team bus caught fire due to a short circuit while ferrying the team back to the hotel from Narendra Modi Stadium after the final loss. Despite the massive safety scare, all GT players and support staff were evacuated successfully from the bus on time, resulting in no major harm. The players were left stranded for an hour due to the breakdown of their vehicle. All GT players are safe despite the smoke spreading inside the bus Due to the safety scare, the whole bus was filled with smoke after a short circuit. Fortunately, no member of the team was hurt since the evacuation was done on time. Moreover, the logistics manager of the team quickly arranged another bus for the team after almost an hour of waiting on the road. Although everyone was escorted to the team hotel safely, the incident added to the plight that the Gujarat Titans suffered on the field against RCB. In a tough turn of events during the IPL final, Titans lost to the champions by 5 wickets after a flop show with the bat. It was not just the final loss or the team bus scare that GT players had to endure. Even before the final, the Titans players were at a disadvantage as their arrival was delayed due to the disturbing weather across north-western India. Did fatigue result in the loss of the Gujarat Titans? Team director denies claims It was a tough travel itinerary for GT as the franchise had to travel from Dharamsala to Mullanpur on May 27 to play the Qualifier 2 against Rajasthan Royals on May 29. But their scheduled departure to Ahmedabad on May 30 was delayed by three hours due to heavy rain, causing trouble with the team’s chartered flight schedule. Resultingly, GT reached their home base late on Saturday evening. However, GT’s Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki did not blame fatigue in the post-match press conference, saying, “I don’t want to take away from the fact that RCB have won by simply stating that we’ve had this number of games in these short days and we’re fatigued and that’s not really what we’re about.” The delay even postponed the captains’ photoshoot with Rajat Patidar and Shubman Gill. In a series of straining incidents over the last five days, the Titans first travelled from Dharamshala to Mullanpur on May 27 and then travelled to Ahmedabad on May 29 after victory.
