Gujarat Titans (GT) stormed into the IPL 2026 final on the back of a sensational seven-wicket win over the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Qualifier 1 in New Chandigarh on 29 May. With this win, the Shubman Gill-led side will now lock horns with defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the summit clash. Shubman Gill scored a sensational 104 as the Gujarat Titans chased down a 215-run target with ease to eliminate the Rajasthan Royals. From Gill’s father lauding his superb 47-ball century to Riyan Parag ‘scolding’ Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the match had many moments. Let’s take a look at them. GT vs RR, Qualifier 2, IPL 2026, Top Moments 1) Riyan Parag spotted ‘scolding’ Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Riyan Parag was spotted in an animated discussion with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi after the youngster missed his century. Sooryavanshi was well on his way to getting a hundred but was caught at third man when he was on 96 runs. This happened in the 18th over of the innings when the camera showed the RR dugout. Captain Parag was seen pointing his finger at Sooryavanshi, who was speaking to him in what seemed an animated discussion. Sooryavanshi did not look too happy about it and blurted out a disappointed reaction. 2) Shubman Gill seemed frustrated after the coin flip was conducted twice The GT vs RR match witnessed confusion at the toss. Riyan Parag appeared to call ‘heads’ when Gill flipped the coin. But the match referee did not properly hear Parag’s call, and thus, the toss was done again. This time, the coin fell in favour of Parag, who opted to bat first. Gill was not very pleased with the confusion, as when the first time coin was flipped, the GT captain had won the toss. 3) Shubman Gill’s father celebrates after GT captain’s ton Shubman Gill wowed his home crowd in Mullanpur and also his father with a spectacular century, which helped the Gujarat Titans move into the final. Imagine that happening to you for two matches straight. That was exactly the case with Sudharsan, who once again lost control of his bat. This happened in the 13th over of the innings when Sai cut a Brijesh Sharma delivery for a four. But on his follow-through, the bat slipped out of his hands and landed on his stumps. Gill was also left stunned as he watched Sudharsan fall similarly for a second time in a row. 5) Vaibhav Sooryavanshi sits stunned in the dugout Shortly after GT knocked out RR, the 15-year-old Sooryavanshi was seen seated dejected in his team’s dugout. Sooryavanshi seemed to be close to tears with his team’s elimination and appeared to cover his face with the Orange Cap he was wearing. Later, when the camera was focused on the dugout, the 15-year-old was spotted crying while trying to use the cap as cover to avoid any spotlight. 6) Vaibhav Sooryavanshi smashes huge six off Rabada’s 153kmph ball Kagiso Rabada bowled a 153 km/h ball, which was sent into the stands by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who once again impressed everyone with his performance. The ball was on good length, and Sooryavanshi sent it flying over the head of the bowler for a six. 7) Donovan Ferreira smashes Rashid Khan for four sixes While GT may have had the last laugh, Rashid Khan had a night to forget. Biggest target chased in IPL playoffs Gujarat achieved a target of 215 runs against Rajasthan in Qualifier-2. This is the biggest successful run chase in IPL playoff history. Gill-Sudharsan duo stitches most century partnerships in T20s Gill and Sudharsan made a partnership of 167 runs against Rajasthan. Both have made a century partnership for the 11th time in IPL. With this, they have become the pair with the most century partnerships for any wicket in Men’s T20s. For this, they took just 48 innings. Gill and Sudharsan become batters to score 700+ runs in 2 seasons Gill and Sudarshan completed their respective 700 runs this season in Qualifier-2. With this, they have become the third and fourth players to complete 700 runs in two different seasons. Before them, Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli have achieved this feat. 5. Sudarshan dismissed on hit-wicket for most time in men’s T20s Sudarshan was out hit-wicket for the second consecutive time against Rajasthan. He was out hit-wicket for the third time in the IPL. He became the third player to be out hit-wicket the most times in men’s T20s. He equalled Andre Russell (3 times) and Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik (3). 6. Gill becomes 3rd batter to score the most centuries as captain in IPL With the century that GT captain hit against RR, Gill scored his second ton in IPL as captain. He has reached the third position in terms of scoring the most centuries as captain in the IPL. Virat Kohli has scored the most 5 centuries as captain.
