A major road accident took place on the Umaria-Anuppur district border on Friday evening in Madhya Pradesh. A tractor-trolley fell off a culvert near Tivni village, leaving four people dead and 37 injured. Women and children are also among the injured. According to reports, villagers from Ginjri village in Anuppur district had gone to the Tivni forest with their families to perform worship rituals. While returning in the evening, the trolley reportedly went out of control on the culvert and overturned. After the accident, the villagers travelling in the trolley fell nearly 10 feet below the bridge. Local residents and police rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. After receiving information about the accident, teams from the Pali police station, the administration, and the health department rushed to the spot. The injured were taken to Pali Hospital with the help of 108 ambulances. Those critically injured were referred to the district hospital after primary treatment. Officials said 22 men, 14 women, and 5 children were injured in the accident. Chaos prevailed at the hospital as a large number of relatives gathered there. Of the four deceased, two died on the spot, while the other two succumbed during treatment at the hospital. The deceased have been identified as Ghanshyam Gond, a resident of Padmania, and Sahbal Baiga from Ginjri village. The identities of the other victims are being ascertained. Police are investigating the cause of the accident. Prima facie, overspeeding or the driver losing control is suspected to have led to the mishap.
