distorted-india-map-sparks-controversy:netizens-slam-ipl-management-over-lightshow-malfunction

Despite the flashy laser light musical show during innings break and the blockbuster Qualifier 1 contest between RCB and GT, the Indian Premier League organisers drew flak from social media users for displaying an incomplete map of India mid-show. Internet users were in shock by the distorted map of India and are slamming the IPL for their negligence. The fans are demanding strict action against the people responsible for the incident. How a ‘distorted India map’ triggered social media outrage during Qualifier 1? There was a laser light show organised during the innings break at the Dharamshala stadium when the incident occurred. The light showed the map of India in an IPL trophy. However, the map appeared to be distorted, and this could have happened due to a technical error. The map, which was displayed with laser lights on the IPL trophy, showed several parts of the country missing, including Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and most of the North East. Moreover, the outline of India in the image appeared to be incorrect because it did not properly show the northeastern states connected to the mainland through the Siliguri Corridor (“Chicken’s Neck”). So, the issue was that the India map shown inside the trophy was not a correct or complete representation of India’s actual map. Netizens slam IPL management over negligence An X (formerly Twitter) user was left baffled by the way the error was ignored by IPL management. He wrote, “This is not a small ‘graphics mistake’, it’s a serious issue involving India’s territorial integrity. How did this get approved by @BCCI and the production team?” Another internet user questioned how this blunder was allowed at such a big stage like that of IPL. Another said, “Pride in India also means representing every part of it correctly. The map displayed seems inaccurate and misses parts of the North-East. Hoping this gets acknowledged and corrected respectfully. 🇮🇳 #IPL #BCCI #INDIA #cricket.” One X user took a unique path and responded to the former General Officer of the Indian Army, Lieutenant General Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon. He posted the image of the distorted map of India in the replies and asked the ex-military personnel to take the matter to the appropriate level.
