Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has directed officials to ensure that major road construction projects linked to Simhastha-2028 are completed several months before the religious event begins. Reviewing Public Works Department (PWD) projects at the state secretariat on Thursday, the Chief Minister said the rapidly expanding road network in the state has already started benefiting the economies of the Bhopal and Indore-Ujjain metropolitan regions. He added that Jabalpur and Gwalior metropolitan areas would also benefit significantly from future infrastructure development initiatives. Indore-Ujjain corridor expected to boost regional growth Dr. Yadav said projects such as: would open new avenues of economic development across the region. PWD Minister Rakesh Singh and Chief Secretary Anurag Jain were also present during the review meeting. CM suggests helmet distribution for farmers The Chief Minister also asked the Public Works Department to collaborate with other departments during the “Farmer Welfare Year” campaign. He suggested distributing helmets to farmers travelling from villages to cities carrying vegetables and fruits on two-wheelers to reduce road accidents. Dr. Yadav stressed that departments should work together to save lives and improve road safety across the state. 481 Accident-Prone Black Spots Identified Officials informed the Chief Minister that 481 accident-prone black spots have currently been identified across Madhya Pradesh. To reduce accidents, the PWD has implemented several road safety measures, including: The Chief Minister also directed officials to identify accident-prone stretches and establish nearby primary treatment centres through inter-departmental coordination. New Approval System Introduced For Infrastructure Projects The meeting also reviewed innovations introduced in the approval process for construction projects. Under the revised system: Mandatory site inspections by Executive Engineers and improvements to bridges, culverts and village roads have also been introduced. CM orders faster construction Of Ring Roads Dr. Yadav directed officials to accelerate the construction of ring roads in major cities across the state. Officials informed the meeting that: The state government has also initiated plans for new ring roads in medium-sized cities facing rising traffic pressure, including: Authorities are also working with municipal corporations and other agencies to convert existing bypass roads into full-fledged ring roads. Six ‘Pragati paths’ under construction across MP The meeting was informed that six major “Pragati Path” infrastructure corridors are currently under construction in Madhya Pradesh. Progress on key projects includes: Work on the Vindhya Expressway has also begun, while the process for the proposed Atal Pragati Path is underway.
