Gujarat Titans (GT) thrashed the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 89 runs in match 66 of IPL 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 21 May. CSK were officially eliminated from the playoffs race with this crushing loss at the venue where they had won their fifth and last IPL title. On the other hand, the Gujarat Titans strengthened their hopes of a top-two finish, which will guarantee two chances at making the final. Blistering fifties from Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler helped GT post 229/4, and the bowlers complemented that effort beautifully, with Mohammed Siraj, Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada taking three wickets each. The matchup not just included all-round performance from the players but also featured many moments that caught attention. Let’s take a look at all of them one by one. GT vs CSK Match 66 Top Moments 1) Shubman Gill silences CSK fans with cold celebration after match One of the most fascinating moments of the match saw Shubman Gill take a splendid catch to dismiss Shivam Dube. Dube was smashing it all around the park before he miscued a shot off Rashid Khan’s bowling. Gill ran back and took an excellent catch to complete the dismissal. After taking the catch, Gill appeared to ‘silence’ a Yellow Army in the Ahmedabad crowd with a cold ‘silence’ gesture send off. 2) Rashid Khan’s death stare at Shivam Dube Another moment in this match emerged from this same dismissal. After Gill completed the catch, Rashid coldly stared at Dube as the CSK star was making his way back to the crease. This was probably because Dube had smashed the leg-spinner for a huge six off the ball before the dismissal. 3) Mohammed Siraj’s ‘SIUUU’ celebration after dismissing Ruturaj Gaikwad Mohammed Siraj once again celebrated with Cristiano Ronaldo’s trademark ‘SIUUU’ celebration after dismissing CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. This happened in the third over when Gaikwad had his stumps rattled by Siraj, who went on to pick up another wicket (Urvil Patel) in that over. After dismissing Gaikwad, Siraj performed the famous celebration, much to the joy of the Ahmedabad crowd. 4) Shubman Gill’s bullet throw to dismiss Kartik Sharma Gill was superb on the field against CSK and unleashed a bullet throw to get rid of Kartik Sharma. This happened in the seventh over when Kartik wanted a quick single. But Gill got to the ball and threw it directly at the stumps, catching the CSK batter short of his crease at the non-striker’s end. The 20-year-old came up with a desperate dive but failed to make it to the crease. 5) Ruturaj Gaikwad runs out Rahul Tewatia with direct hit Before Gill, his counterpart, Ruturaj Gaikwad, also nailed a direct hit, to dismiss Rahul Tewatia. Facing the second ball off the 19th over, Tewatia attempted a quick single and took on Gaikwad. But the CSK captain collected the ball and nailed the direct hit in a flash to run out Tewatia. 6) Sanju Samson left the field due to a finger injury Spencer Johnson’s wayward delivery down the leg side led to an unfortunate injury for wicketkeeper Sanju Samson. Diving full length to stop the ball, Samson was struck on the fingers after an unexpected change in direction. The ball raced away for five wides, prompting immediate medical attention before Samson left the field, with Urvil Patel taking over the gloves. Top Records from GT vs CSK game 1.
